OUGSS wins UNIFEST at the International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival 2023

This year, OUGSS brought Utopia, Limited to the International Gilbert and Sullivan festival in Buxton. Directed by the brilliant Robyn Allen and musically by the excellent Madeleine Lay, the production went on to scoop a number of festival awards, nominations, winning UNIFEST overall this year. We would like to express our gratitude, as ever, to all the festival and competition organisers, and look forward to returning next year. OUGSS always has an enjoyable time at the festival, and many members took advantage of our stay to watch The Pirates of Penzance (in preparation for our Michaelmas term show), The Mikado, Ruddigore, and The Yeomen of the Guard after our own performance ended.

The awards and nominations were as follows:

Best Male Voice: Harry Reddish (won)

Best Female Voice: Elenor Vockins

Best Actor in a Male Role: Joe Pollacco

Best Chorus: Utopia, Limited, Oxford (won)
