Colonel Fairfax, the gentleman scholar and scientist, has been sentenced to death after false accusation of sorcery and is incarcerated in the Tower of London. Fairfax himself secretly marries Elsie Maynard, a wandering singer betrothed to the jester Jack Point, to prevent his estate falling into his accuser's hands following his demise. However, keen to see Fairfax exonerated, various Yeomen among the tower guard conspire to arrange his escape, throwing Elsie, Point, and the conspirators into the lurch with uncertain resolution.
Known as the 'serious' Gilbert and Sullivan opera, The Yeomen of the Guard combines an excellent score from Sullivan with a story that tugs at the heartstrings and promises to keep you on the edge of your seat.
